Full Professor University of Catania. Department of Medicine, Surgery and Advanced Technology at University of Catania The Professor Stefano Puleo graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1973 summa  cum laude  and specialized in General Surgery in 1979 summa cum laude at University of Catania. In the same University he began and continued his career from 1974 until 1994, first as a research fellow and later as researcher. In 1994 was nominated Associate Professor and in 2002 Full Professor of Surgery. In the first period of his career, in addition to the clinical activity, Prof. Puleo devoted himself to experimental surgery and microsurgery with Professor Sun lee (San Diego U.S) then to  get interested in abdominal surgery full time and in particular in hepatobiliary surgery with internship and collaboration with important surgeons as Prof. Thomas Stazrl, Jaques Belghiti, Masatoshi Makuuchi, Yuri Nimura. From 2001 to 2019 has been Director of the Clinical of General Surgery at Univeristy of Catania. Professor Puleo from 1995 to 2019 was a teacher in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and in the postgraduate schools of Thoracic Surgery, General Surgery and, also  as Director (2004-2008) of Digestive Surgery. During his academic activity he was President of Sicilian Society of surgery (2013-2016) and Italian Society of research in surgery (2016-2018) and Director of the Department of Medicine, Surgery and advanced technology at University of Catania (2014-2018). He published several papers in indexed journals (Scopus 183, Pubmed 58), has been Councilor of Italian Chapter of Hepato-biliary-pancreatic-association and of International Society of experimental microsurgery (2018-2024)
