Nicolò
Mauro is an expert scientist in the field of nanomedicine for precision
anticancer medicine, drug delivery, tissue engineering and antimicrobial
macromolecular drugs. In 2008 he obtained his M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry
and Technology summa cum laude. He also received a Ph.D. in Biomaterials at
University of Pisa, where he performed a study on the development of innovative
hydrogels and polymers useful for regenerative medicine and drug delivery
applications. He spent a period abroad at Cardiff University (UK) and Alfred
Hospital (AU), where he studied new protein/gene delivery systems as vaccine
adjuvants. In 2014 he was Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Milan, where
developed polymer-sugar conjugates with antiviral properties.
After a brief
period at University of Palermo, he was Postdoctoral Fellow at Fondazione
Umberto Veronesi up to 2020, where he studied innovative carbon/polymer-based
theranostic agents for the treatment and diagnosis of breast cancers. Since
2021 he is Assistant Professor at University of Palermo. He is author of 54
scientific international papers and three patents, Editor of Materials, and
Scientific Board Member of Mipol.
