Full professor of Hygiene and Public Health and Director of the Department “G.F. Ingrassia”.  The scientific activity focused on different topics with the general approach of the integration of the epidemiological management of data and the application of AI methods with high-throughput tools of genomics and molecular epidemiology in the framework of translational research, Public Health Informatics, Precision Medicineand Precision Nutrition. Principal investigator of two birth cohorts: “Mamma&Bambino” and “MAMI-MED”. In the roster of scientists of ECDC and member of the HAI-Net ICU Working Group. Member of the Disease Network Coordination Committee for the Healthcare-associated Infections Surveillance Network (HAI-Net) of the ECDC. Operative Unit Leader of the funded Projects of the National Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, CCM, Italian Ministry of Health and of the PO PSN - Sicilian Region, in the framework of National Surveillance of HAIs and antimicrobial resistance and to support the implementation of PNCAR
